And the beat goes on. More despair was realized on Day 7 where Ades toiled for nearly two and half hours on the detail work of the fancy molding only to gain a head way of hardly an inch. It was after this that we estimated that just to sand all the molding around the table alone it would take us over 32 hours of work. The work is tedious, gut wrenching, finger cramping tumult as one attempts to use this tiny piece of ghetto rigged sanding screen to remove the paint yet not damage the actual wood of the furniture.

Just the thought of the amount of time for just that little bit of molding which encompasses about five percent of the table area made us shudder and shy away from the project. I for one was ready to abort. Then this past Wednesday (8/11) being the start of what promised to be yet another unprecedented 5 day flat spell and another day of shit weather, I found myself with little desire to even leave my apartment a feat I managed to accomplish not stepping outside once the entire day. I felt compelled to do some research on refinishing and paint stripping furniture, the first I have done on the subject.
….
As it turns out all the experts claim to use a variety of either chemical paint solvents or heat methods, very few consider sanding even an option unless a last resort. Man I should have done my homework before hand and could have saved much anger and frustration. That would not be the Lisanti everyone here (all three of you, I promise I will stop with the lack of readership jokes soon) have come to know and love. The Chris Lisanti you know jumps into the water head first from the highest point possible with out checking the water depth. It’s all about reaction here folks not precaution.

Thanks to some very fine youtube.com videos of master craftsmen and their very helpful advice I have a new fervor for this project. Considering this summer of surfing atrocity still has a fair amount of weeks to go I find it pungent that I see the table through till the end. I spent an hour on these videos accounting for no physical work done but may have paved the way for a faster resolve.
