I had my second table fit of anger and frustration on Day 6. The first tantrum was thrown on Day 1 when I realized just how stupid and enduring this project was going to be. After that I began to embrace the table and even thought of how wonderful it would look upon completion. I even felt a Zen like experience from working on it. That all changed on Monday. ….
After a less then stellar surf I came home to embark on an afternoon of ding repair out of my back yard. Since all my sanding gear was out and both jobs required adequate dry time I decided to give the table another whirl especially since Ade’s has been beating me in the work load as of lately. Also I knew a solid south swell was about to fill in and had already conceived the idea of spending its entirety in Malibu, which by the way I scored. You can expect a blog on that in a few days. ….
I dragged the table outside. I swear that thing gets heavier each time I lift it. I went forward with working on the same side that we have been toiling at for days. My expectations were high and I was feeling rather optimistic. I had my new used sanding screen from J7 and at first I was getting all the tight spots nicely. Unfortunately after an hour of such work I realized I barely made an inch of headway at the fancy chair rail molding. ….
Feeling rather unsatisfied with such little progress and so much work I opted to give one of the legs on the same side a whirl. This was just about as slow going and problematic thanks to intricate carving work. I spent another hour on this and Im not sure if I even got half of the rather small leg finished. This really put me over the edge. I was infuriated. There was some screaming and ramped use of profanities. I threw a rock, punched the chain link fence in my back yard and finally vowed never to work on the table again. ….
